Importance of Preventive Care

Pet checkup & wellness exams are an essential part of keeping your pet in excellent health their whole life.

When you combine routine vaccinations, parasite prevention, and proper nutrition, these routine checkups give your cat, dog, reptile, amphibian or small mammal their best chance for life-long optimal health.

When you take your pet in for their routine checkup, we can help protect them from health problems, or find them early, when they are easier to treat.

Cat & Dog Checkup & Wellness Exams, Las Vegas

What You Can Expect at Your Pet's Physical

Your Las Vegas vet will give your pet a complete physical examination in order to obtain a full picture of their overall health. Routine checkups at our pet hospital will consist of the elements listed below:

General Condition

The general demeanor and physical condition of your furry or non-furry pet can offer a key insight into their overall health. How your pet walks and stands, their alertness level, and whether they are maintaining a healthy weight for their size are all key indicators of overall health.

Coat & Skin

At your pet's checkup, your vet will examine your companion's skin and coat for any signs of a problem, including dandruff, bumps, lumps, excessive oiliness or dryness, abnormal hair loss, or shedding.

Face & Head

We will examine your pet's eyes, ears, and nose for abnormalities or discharge. We'll also inspect their mouth for symptoms such as plaque buildup or periodontal disease.

Internal Health

Heart rate and rhythm, pulse, and blood pressure are essential components of your pet's heart health. We'll test these to make sure they are normal. The lungs will then be checked for signs of abnormal breathing.

Lymph nodes will be examined for swelling or pain, and we will also check the abdomen to make sure the intestines, kidneys, bladder, spleen, liver, and stomach all feel normal, and that your cat or dog isn't showing any signs of discomfort.

Review of Findings

At the end of your cat, dog, or exotic pets routine wellness exam, your vet will designate time to talk to you about any concerns they might have regarding your pet's overall health and discuss your pet's nutritional requirements.

Checkups for Puppies & Kittens

There is a certain level of care kittens and puppies require within their first several weeks of life to start them on the path to a healthy life.

We'll provide your new furry companion, with a full physical examination, the required immunizations, and deworming medication. Your vet will also test them for intestinal parasites. You'll be given a puppy or kitten 'kit' that is filled with educational materials and samples to help you take care of your new best friend.

Never hesitate when it comes to contacting us with any questions or concerns you might have regarding the care of your puppy or kitten, either at your appointments or following your visits.

After your puppy or kitten's checkup is over, you'll need to come back regularly for their required booster shots

Seniors

With the new advancements being made in veterinary medical knowledge and care, as well as the newer therapies and better nutrition, senior pets are living longer than ever before.

While this is news for pets and their owners to celebrate, it also means that you need to give special attention to your pet's routine healthcare as they get older. As your pet surpasses middle age, regular examinations become even more essential in ensuring their continuing health and longevity.

On top of the routine wellness procedures, we perform on all adult pets, we'll give special attention to your senior pet's potential geriatric conditions, such as arthritis or decreased vision.

Additional laboratory tests may be recommended for aging pets to provide more detailed information about your senior pet's overall health and wellbeing.

Vaccinations & Prevention

During your pet's veterinary checkup at our Las Vegas pet clinic, your vet will also look to see if your pet requires preventive care, or if it's time for any of their routine vaccinations.
